Early Day & Sons Universal Medicine Chest

Early Day & Sons Universal Medicine Chest

This great example of a rare "Day & Sons' Original Universal Medicine Chest", with its original label is in "as found" condition.
It would have contained medicines for horses, cattle, sheep, pigs etc, it dates from around 1920/30s.
The chest would have been used by farmers and stock-men to treat their own live stock, rather than call a vet.
This chest still bears its' original label to the inside of the lid and the outside which have retained a good colour considering its' age and the lettering and delightful images are clear and legible.
As the chest was designed for practical purposes the wood has some marks you would associate with an item of this age, but it has developed a lovely patina and superb depth of colour over the years.

This would make a great storage container for candles, shoe cleaning stuff, would like great in ta greenhouse full of garden tools and seed packets. A really versatile and unusual functional piece.
